4 races were completed on Saturday in pretty rugged conditions with a 20+ knot easterly which produced some big seas and made getting on and off the beach at Murrays Bay pretty exciting!

Sunday dawned and it was even worse with surf breaking 100 metres off the beach and 40 knots at Tiri so there was no doubt about the decision to abandon racing for the day.

This left Kelcey Gager (#59 Escapade) a most deserving winner after a very consistent day. This follows 3^rd placings in the 2007 nations and Auckland Champs, and 2^nd at the 2008 nationals. Kelcey’s performance is all the more impressive in view of the fact that he only participates in the major regattas and does no Zephyr racing during the season due to the pressures of having a young family!

The handicap win was a most popular and well earned result for Craig Moss (#508 Wedgy Man). Craig has climbed a very steep learning curve since he first climbed into his boat at the beginning of 2007 and his enthusiasm and commitment have really paid off this season.”
