Optisail 08 Clothing & Equipment List
On Water Gear
- Life Jacket
- Wetsuit / hiking shorts / etc
- Warm clothes / thermals
- Gloves (if you wear them)
- Beanie
- Sun hat / cap and sunscreen
- Sailing jacket / parka
- Anything else you wear for sailing
- Sailing watch (waterproof, with stopwatch or countdown)
On Shore Gear
- Sleeping bag
- Airbed / camp stretcher / mattress
- Pillow
- Warm clothes
- Running shoes / sneakers etc
- Shorts and t-shirts
- Sun hat and sun screen
- Towels (at least 2)
- Toiletries
- Notebook and pencil
- Yachting New Zealand rulebook (optional but recommended)
- Yachting New Zealand Sailing Scheme Logbook
Boat and Equipment Check List
- Sails must be in good working condition (repair any tears, holes, etc)
- Battens must be secure (you may like to bring spares)
- All sail ties must be in good condition and easily retied. Bring spare sail ties.
- Make sure all cleats (especially sprit tension and kicker) do not slip under tension.
- All hulls and spars must be in a seaworthy condition.
- All buoyancy must be secured to the hull.
- Bungy cord that holds the centreboard in place.
- Hiking straps must be fitted securely.
- All spars must be capped at both ends.
- Rudders and centreboards must have boat number recorded.
- Mast and rudder locks must be checked.
- All tillers must be fitted with a tiller extension and attached with a universal joint.
- 5 metre tow rope.
- A good bailer (securely attached to boat).
- Beach trolley (with boat number clearly displayed on it)
- Wind pennant
